The owner of Plum Dandy in Saratoga Springs recently opened a new shop in Malta.
Larry Levitas who operates the Plum Dandy chain of frozen dessert shops first encountered the concept of a frozen yogurt shop with multiple choices of toppings in Princeton and brought it north in June of 2010 to Plum Dandy’s first location at 419 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, managed by his daughter, Stacey Flynn.
It did so well that in September 2013, Plum Dandy Cookies and Milk opened Market Center at 55 Railroad Place. The Cookies and Milk location features all-natural ingredient cookies baked on site, many from traditional Levitas family recipes.
At the beginning of April, the new location opened at 1106 Ellsworth Boulevard, Ellsworth Commons, in Malta.
Soon after, another location opened in Troy at City Station, a building that provides graduate student housing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The two new locations are larger than the Broadway site, with seating for 30, and more outside as the weather continues to warm. They have a more modern feel, decorated in the turquoise and purple of the Plum Dandy logo, with different, lighted set-ups for toppings with a separate chilled station for fresh fruits.
All Plum Dandy Yogurt locations offer bubble teas, an Asian specialty developed in Taiwan. Plum Dandy locations offer free Wi-Fi access, I-pad use, and opportunities to play board games like Candy Land or Trivial Pursuit. All Plum Dandy locations offer birthday parties for kids on up to seniors.
The website for Plum Dandy Frozen Yogurt is plumdandyyogurt.com. Plum Candy Cookies and Milk can be found at plumdandycookies.com.
The hours at Plum Dandy Yogurt locations vary by seasons or weather conditions. The company has details on its Facebook page. They can be reached by phone in Saratoga at 871-1525; in Malta, at 289-5646; and in Troy at 326-8003.
