The Ballston Spa Business and Professional
Association announced the
winners of the 2014 Ballston Spa Chocolate
Festival. The festival competition consisted
of three categories: dessert, savory dish and
beverage. The public rated each chocolate
entry on a ballot from which the scores were
totaled to determine the winners.
The winner of the dessert category is the
D-Line Pub of 15 Prospect St. Owner Larry
Weaver entered his Triple Chocolate Brownies.
Zest Catering, 3 Science St., Ballston Spa,
took the honors for favorite savory dish. Chefs
and owners Carla and Eric Kuchar submitted
Asado de Bodas, a chocolate pork chili.
The beverage category produced a tie for
the top pick. Coffee Planet, 100 Milton Ave.,
won for the coffee drink “turtle candy,” with
hazelnut, caramel and chocolate flavors. Zest
Catering tied with their Chocolate Mock-Tini.
Twenty-one participants either submitted a
chocolate creation or hosted a chocolate chef.
