Jeff Shinaman
was hired as executive
director of the Academy
for Lifelong Learning
(A.L.L.) at Saratoga
Springs, an independent
not-for-profit sponsored
by SUNY Empire
State College.
He is responsible
for management of the
A.L.L., a membership organization with more
than 250 members.
Shinaman has more than 18 years of experience
in membership recruitment and services
as the membership associate at the Albany
Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and,
more recently, as the vice president for membership
and marketing at the Saratoga County
Chamber of Commerce.

Licensed massage therapist Debora
DeSimone is now certified in a technique
called Thai massage,
a system of massage
and assisted stretching
developed in Thailand,
typified by deep static
and rhythmic pressures.
It is now one of the
treatments available
for relieving muscle
pain at of and improving
flexibility at Saratoga
Sports Massage.
DeSimone spent three weeks in November
in Chiang Mai, Thailand studying Thai massage
under Namphetch Khunchamnan at Khunchamnan
Family Massage.
She received certification after completing
60 hours of training recognized by the Union
of Thai Traditional Medicine Society and the
Thai government.
Tech II Business Services Inc. recently
added Nicholas Martindale to the technical
staff as a systems engineer.
A graduate of SUNY Adirondack, he recently
came back to the Capital Region after
several years in Corning, N.Y., where he was
most recently involved in Level 2 operations
for Corning, Inc.

promoted Bryan E. Curtis to manager of its

Curtis, will oversee
operations as well as

at the branch. He joined
the company in 2010 as
a customer service representative
and most

office in Queensbury.
A Saratoga Springs resident, Curtis holds a
bachelor’s degree in business administration
from the University of Colorado. He is active
in the community as a volunteer for Salvation
Army and the Muscular Dystrophy Association,
and as a member of the Adirondack Regional
Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals
Organization.
Roohan Realty announced that Tara A.
Kane has joined its
staff as a real estate
salesperson.
Kane began her real
estate career in 2002.
She spent time on a
panel for the Ossining
Public Library responsible
for giving seminars
to first time home
buyers. She attended
Westchester Community College and then
transferred to Mercy College.
She moved to Saratoga Springs in 2010.
The shareholders of Saratoga Springs-based

Lauren Ouimet as a shareholder in
the firm, and appointed
her vice president of the
corporation.
An employee of the
firm since 2007, and the
manager of the firm’s
accounting staff, Lauren
Ouimet oversees
accounting and taxation
issues for the firm’s
business, not-for-profit
and individual clients.
She has extensive experience
with audits, preparation of financial
statements, and tax returns for clients in a
broad range of industries.
Her expertise also includes estate planning,
estate taxes, trusts, and small business
retirement plans. She is a graduate of Hofstra
University.

Fischer will join the Estate Planning and Administration Practice Group and the Federal and State Taxation Practice Group at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna.
Fischer advises clients in the areas of estate planning, taxation, asset protection planning, estate and trust administration and settlement. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Tri- County United Way and assists the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
Fischer is admitted to practice in New York state and is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Tax Section; Trusts and Estates Section and Elder Law and Special Needs Section); the Albany County Bar Association; the Warren County Bar Association; the Washington County Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York Inc.
Ed Lewi Associates appointed Andrew
Mangini as public relations specialist.
Mangini will assist with media relations,
communications and marketing efforts for the
agency’s client base throughout New York and New England.
Prior to joining Ed Lewi Associates,
Mangini served as director of communications
for the office of state Sen. Catharine
M. Young. His public affairs and public relations
background also includes a role as field
director for the Roy McDonald state Senate
campaign in 2012 and various positions with
the state Assembly.
Mangini also spent nearly four years as
an account executive with public relations
firm Eric Mower + Associates, where he
created and implemented media relations,
advocacy and social media programs for a
variety of clients, including several Fortune
100 businesses.
He is a graduate of Siena College, where
he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science
with a minor in economics and classical
studies.
Saratoga Hospital recently welcomed a
new pulmonologist, Dr. Robert Shih-Ning
Wang.
Wang, received his medical degree from
SUNY Buffalo. Wang completed his residency
training in both pediatrics and internal medicine,
followed by fellowship training in pulmonary
and critical care medicine, at Albany
Medical Center.
He is board certified by the American
Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of
Internal Medicine, the American Board of
Pulmonary Disease, the American Board of
Critical Care Medicine, and the American
Board of Sleep Medicine. Wang, a member
of the Saratoga Regional Medical Group,
will be temporarily located at Saratoga
Family Physicians, 3044 Route 50, Saratoga
Springs, before relocating in the spring to
his permanent location at Saratoga Center
for Pulmonary and Critical Medicine, 6 Care
Lane, Saratoga Springs.
Raymond O’Conor was appointed chief
executive officer of the Saratoga County Capital
Resource Corp., a nonprofit local development
corporation created in 2012 to promote
community and economic development and
create jobs.
O’Conor has 30 years of experience in the
financial services industry, most recently having
served as president and CEO of Saratoga
National Bank & Trust Co. He was the founder
of the Wilton Global Job Development Corp.
and has experience in local and regional
government, having served as chairman of
the Saratoga County Planning Board, deputy
supervisor of the Town of Wilton, chairman of
the Wilton Water & Sewer Authority and as a
board member of the Saratoga County Industrial
Development Agency.
