Sumitomo (SHI) Cryogenics of America, opened a new facility in Malta in the at the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park.
SCAI is a member of the Cryogenics Division of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (SHI).
The Malta facility will mark the SHI Cryogenics Group’s fifth U.S. location and its 12th location globally. the company said.
According to David Dedman, president and CEO of SCAI, “Our modern 1,600-square-foot facility demonstrates the SHI Cryogenics Group’s deep commitment to the semiconductor industry and our growing customer base in New York’s Saratoga County and the surrounding Tech Valley.”

Dedman said the new site will provide local service primarily for SHI’s line of SICERA Cryopump systems. They are designed with SHI’s proprietary inverter technology to greatly reduce customer energy costs. Its proprietary design also results in longer uptime, while maintaining transparent process conditions.
According to the company, the resulting savings and increased throughput make SICERA ideal for semiconductor-related manufacturing.
