The Schuylerville office of Glens Falls National
Bank and Trust Co. raised thousands
of dollars for the Schuylerville Area Food and
Emergency Relief Group (SAFER) as part of its
40th anniversary celebration.
The office hosted a Community Appreciation
Day earlier this month that generated over $3,300
for SAFER, thanks to a bake sale, raffle and contributions
from the community and Schuylerville
Central School students.
SAFER uses donations to purchase food at a
deep discount from the Regional Food Bank of
Northeastern New York. As a result, the $3,300
raised could result in up to $33,000 worth of food
for the community, bank officials said.
The event included a balloon-release ceremony with Schuylerville National Honor Society students, SAFER volunteers and a Schuylerville kindergarten class to acknowledge SAFER’s commitment to ending hunger.
There was also entertainment by Tenpenny Bit and Lydia Martin, lunch from Mac’s Diner, games and giveaways.
