Co-Owners Matthew and Kathy Slaughter of
Next Summer are set to open a second store
in the The Washington, the new downtown
structure being built by Bonacio Construction
at 422 Broadway, between Cantina and Lillian’s
restaurants in Saratoga Springs.
The 5,200-square-foot mixed-use building
is expected to be done in August. It features
commercial space and 14 luxury apartments on
the upper floors. Northshire Books is the main
commercial tenant, set to occupy 10,500 square
feet on two floors, according to developer Sony
Bonacio.
Next Summer originated from 4455 Lake Shore Drive in Bolton Landing and is a rustic, lakehouse-life store, that offers colorful, yet slightly rustic home decor with a modern flair.
They also carry men’s and women’s clothing, bedding, kitchenware, accessories and outdoor décor items. People can also find tools and supplies for living in the Adirondacks.
The Saratoga store will offer the same style and designs that the Bolton Landing store offers. “I wanted to bring a little bit of the ‘living on the lake’ style to a more urban area” Slaughter said.
The store to open in The Washington isn’t the first venture into Saratoga. The Slaughters previously had a store in Saratoga that closed in January due to the location of the store.
“Being a little bit out of the way of the downtown bustle, we missed out on a lot,” he said. Now being more accessible to the public at large,Slaughter is optimistic that they will do well.
“My customers in Saratoga were so happy to hear that we were coming back to Saratoga,” he said.
Though the opening date of the Saratoga store is still pending the completion of the construction on Broadway, they are optimistic that the store will open this summer.
