Michael and Heidi Hoyt, co-owners of the
Black Diamond Caterers, are set to open a new
establishment, Park Side Eatery at 42-44 Phila
Street in Saratoga Springs. The business is expected to open in June
in the space formerly occupied by Saratoga
Wine Exchange.
The Hoyts have 13 years experience in the
food business with Black Diamond Caterers,
and even ran a side business running the
Adirondack Barbecue.
They said inspiration to open The Eatery has
been 10 years in the making and came from
their experiences in the food industry.
It will be 5,000 square feet space, boasting a
relaxed and casual atmosphere where customers
can choose to eat on the run, or sit and stay
a while as they enjoy their food.
The design of the eatery will reflect a laid back style, with the kitchen being open and visible to their guests.
“I feel it will fit very well into the neighborhood. In addition to people enjoying their meals in the seated area, we fully expect people to be running in and out as they head for home with their dinner for their family,” said Michael Hoyt.
The menu for the eatery will have Jewish style foods such as matzo ball soup, house-made corned beef, pastrami, glazed backerei, doughnuts and other pastries that bring a little taste of the German, Austrian and Scandinavian palate, the owners said.
They owners plan 22 additional full-time employees for Park Side Eatery. It will open in the late morning and remain open until 8 p.m. most days of the week, Hoyt said.
