Ophthalmologist and retina specialist,
Dr. Amjad Hammad has broken ground on
his new private practice in Malta, a facility
that will help him expand his ability to help
patients in the local community.
Hammad, a leading expert in retina
surgery, has seen a need in the community
to expand his specialized retina services to
more patients in the local area.
Dr. Hammad said the new 21,000-squarefoot- facility, with about 4,600 square feet of space for his private practice, should open late fall. The building will also be the new home for Donnellan and Knussman PLLC, a matrimonial and family law practice.
Hammad is among the select few physicians honored with the prestigious Patients’ Choice Award this year. Of the nation’s 870,000 active physicians, just 5 percent consistently receive top scores from patients. Many fewer have earned it five years in a row, as has Dr. Hammad.
He is also the CEO of The New York Eye Surgical Center opening at the Glens Falls Hospital Wilton Medical Center at Northway Exit 16.
“I’m so honored to receive an award that’s based on how my patients view the quality of care I provide. I strive each day to exceed my patients’ expectations, and I’m grateful that they’ve recognized my efforts.”
“I’m excited to be staying in Saratoga County”, he added. “Malta is a growing area and the new practice will be extremely easy for patients to find, right off (Northway) Exit 13S at the corner of Route 9 South and Malta Avenue Extension. This will allow us to continue to conveniently serve our patients from the north and make it even easier for our patients coming from the south.”
He said he is proud to be working with local partners, ABAR Construction and 3T Architects, on the project.
Dr. Hammad treats patients with diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and macular edema. He strives to educate his patients about their ocular diseases and treatment process.
