Saratoga Medical Associates has accepted
a new specialist into its collection of
medical professionals. Dr. Matthias Solga and
Saratoga urology are in the One West Medical
building in Saratoga Springs and offer a broad
spectrum urologic procedures and services.
Dr. Solga ls from the eastern part of Berlin,
Germany. The interest to live abroad, in the
united States, was a seed planted in his heart
by his grandmother who admired America
for its efforts to bring freedom and peace
to the european countries that were under
oppression.
It was these same efforts that sparked a
fire in Solga’s heart to give to his children the
kind of life and education that only America
could give them.
Solga graduated from the Medical Faculty of Humboldt university in Berlin in 1984 and became board certified in urology by the Administration of Health in Germany in 1990. His medical career began in 1977 as a nurse’s assistant at Oskar Ziethen Hospital, Berlin-Lichtenberg, Germany. From there he continued his education until he became head of the Diagnostic Department of urology at Berlin university in 1990.
From 1991-1992, Solga headed the Department of Diagnostic ultrasound urology Clinic at Humboldt university in Berlin and was a representative of Bk Medical, Denmark, in 1992-1993. He has been in private practice since 1993 in Berlin, where he practiced medicine with his mother, Dr. Ursula Solga, also a physician specializing in urology. He practiced urologic medicine until his recent decision to move to the u.S. and open Saratoga urology.
Solga described the atmosphere of Copenhagen 20 years ago as one with music in the air from the various shops, and “happy smiling faces” around the small family shops in the city. He said Saratoga Springs reminded him of that time.
Living in Saratoga is like “being in a fairy tale,” he said, adding that the atmosphere is as if “time had stopped” reminding him of an older time when people were not in such a hurry and took the time to establish personal relationships with their customers.
Saratoga urology provides state-of-the-the-art equipment and the latest techniques for patients in a cost-effective and friendly environment and will treat a wide variety of urological conditions.
Solga said he wanted much more for his patients than just a place to find treatment for their ailments. He also wants to establish a relationship with patients, as well as educate them about their health. He said he wants patients to feel comfortable about procedures being done.
Solga said education is a vital part of personal health. In a community outreach effort, he has scheduled a free seminar on overactive bladder on April 23 from 5-6 p.m. He plans to hold seminars regularly as a way for the public to get important information about health and treatments that are available to them.
