Jennifer Jackson, president of Seaglass Logowear in Clifton Country Center, Clifton Park, claims she simply decided eight years ago that a business selling embroidered and silk-screened promotional products was something that she would like to and could do. So she did.
She started out with embroidery, and, as customer demand indicated, she expanded the business to include T-shirts, banners, trophies, pens, vehicle graphics and a variety of promotional materials, so that the store is now a “one- stop shop for promotional needs.”
There’s no minimum order for embroidered goods, so even though Jackson delights in making her business customers look good, if a person just wants to order a nice embroidered shirt to commemorate Bob’s perfect 300 bowling game, Jane’s hole-in-one, or grandpa’s 85th birthday, that’s OK.
Jackson said about 50 percent of her business is of a commercial nature, while the other half is comprised of moms looking for shirts for their kids’ sports teams, community fundraisers wanting shirts for their supporters, and a variety of other sources.
The Shengear.com website is Seaglass Logowear’s online store for Shenendehowa School District logowear. 518Strong is the arm of the business supporting a variety of not-for profit groups in the area. It’s a spin-off of Shenstrong, established online to help the Clifton Park community pull itself back together after two Shenendehowa students died in an auto accidents late in 2012.
The 518Strong.com website supports local charities connected to local young people who are fighting or have succumbed to serious illnesses.
She said being a part of the Clifton Park community is important.
Jackson said she loves working with people in her business and enjoys the variety of products and customers so that no two days are alike.
She emphasizes quality of company products and prides herself, and her staff of three full-time and two part-time employees, on a high degree of customer service provided.
She is happy to help her customers be successful.
While Jackson puts a lot of hours into making Seaglass Logowear successful, she said she is grateful for the flexibility afforded her by being the owner of her own business.
