Roohan Realty announced its top sales agents for 2012. They included Valerie Thompson, Julie Bonacio, Meg Minehan, Palma Pedrick, Kate R. Naughton, Gail Macaioni, Carole Tarantino, Mara King, Christina Papadopoulos and Chris Benton.

The Rookie of the Year award went to Kasia Israel. In total, these accomplished Realtors® achieved over $65.7 million in residential real estate property sales last year, company officials said.

Roohan Realty has been serving the community’s residential and commercial property needs since 1969 and is celebrating its 44th anniversary.

Saratoga National Bank and Trust Co. announced the promotion of corporate banking manager Richard J. Ferguson to senior vice president and corporate secretary.

Ferguson, of Malta, joined Saratoga National Bank in 2009 as vice president and corporate banking manager after more than 20 years of banking and business lending experience throughout Saratoga County.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena College and an MBA from the University of Hartford. He is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma.

Ferguson is president of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County, chairman of the city of Saratoga Springs Community Development Citizen Advisory Committee, a member of the Saratoga Entrepreneurial Fund board, and a member of the Leadership Saratoga Alumni Association board. He received the company’s Community Service Volunteer of the Year award in 2011.

AmyGlasser-BW.JPGAmy Glasser, DPT, recently joined LaMarco Physical Therapy PC as a physical therapist.

She is a recent graduate from Sage Graduate School in Troy, and has returned to her hometown to begin a career serving her community while promoting health, wellness, and rehabilitation.

Glasser is also active in community- based fitness programs, holding certifications in kickboxing, pilates and yoga.

Keir Weimer
joined Select Sotheby’s International realty as a licensed salesperson.

Weimer brings to the organization experience working with multinational corporations, as an entrepreneur in several contexts, and as a real estate professional with a strong grasp of the market. In January of 2012, he founded and became president of his own real estate investment and holding firm, The Thistle Island Group, LLC.

In an effort to grow his real estate investment firm in tandem with a successful career as an agent, Weimer came on board with Select Sotheby’s International Realty. He brings with him an extensive knowledge of the area and the Adirondack Park.

Select Sotheby’s has offices in Lake George and Saratoga Springs.

Saratoga National Bank and Trust Co. announced the appointment of Belinda S. Cross to lead its newest office in Clifton Park.

pbrief -belinda cross.jpgCross joins the company as vice president, branch Manager and corporate development officer. She brings to the job over 24 years of banking experience within the Capital Region and North Country.

Originally from the Plattsburgh area, Cross graduated from Ausable Valley High School and obtained an associate’s degree in business administration from Clinton Community College. She is a licensed investment professional and has been a volunteer with Northeast Parent and Child Society in Schenectady.

Cross will head operations at 386 Clifton Park Center Road, off Exit 9 of the Northway behind Clifton Park Center Mall. The new full office will feature two drive-through lanes and a 24-hour drive-up ATM.

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP has named a new associate: Vitaliy Volpov.

Volpov will join the Labor and Employment Practice Group. Before joining the firm, Volpov was a law clerk and a court attorney at the state Court of Appeals for Judge Victoria A. Graffeo. He is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations.

Volpov obtained his Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from Albany Law School in May 2010, where he was an executive editor of lead articles on the Albany Law Review. In addition, he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English from Union College.
He is a recipient of the David Siegel Scholarship and the John Alexander Memorial Scholarship. He is fluent in Russian and English.

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP announced two new partners, Leonard J. (“L.J.”) D’Arrigo and Jason M. DiMarino, and a new counsel, Lucy Kats.

D’Arrigo specializes in corporate and professional immigration involving employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions, labor certification, and family-based immigration. He assists a diverse group of U.S. and foreign employers, such as multi-national corporations, religious institutions, and universities to obtain temporary and permanent visas for skilled or professional foreign national employees.

In addition, D’Arrigo is a frequent speaker at immigration/ employment related conferences and seminars including, New York Farm Bureau, Capital Region Human Resource Association, and various other events. he also represents individual foreign-national clients in obtaining immigration benefits through family-based immigration categories.

She prepares estate plans for individuals and couples, which includes drafting wills, trusts, prenuptial agreements, retirement plan beneficiary designations, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and living wills. In addition, she has extensive experience in estate planning for non-traditional families, including second marriages, blended families, divorced parents, and same-sex couples.

Kats supervises all aspects of estate and trust administration, representing corporate and individual fiduciaries and beneficiaries.

HUNT Real Estate ERA in Albany announced that Donna Martin has joined the Saratoga Springs sales office as a licensed real estate sales associate.

Martin specializes in servicing the needs of first time home buyers and sellers. She is involved in the Ballston Spa Business Professional Association, and is active in the Saratoga and Ballston Spa communities. She also owns and operates Village Photo LLC in Ballston Spa with her husband, Peter Martin.

Martin covers the market areas of Saratoga and Ballston Spa.

The Visiting Nurse Association of Albany, Saratoga & Rensselaer named Teresa Bravata a patient services manager.

She will be responsible for the operation and supervision of staff in the delivery of services to VNA patients served by the Clifton Park/Saratoga office.

Bravata has served in nurse management positions, most recently with Glens Falls Hospital and Care Net Pregnancy Center of the Tri-State Area. She has experience as an occupational health nurse, maternal and child health nurse, and as a director with the Community Hospice.

Bravata earned her RN and LPN degrees from Suffolk County Community College and is trained and certified as an international emergency disaster relief responder.

Maguire Cardona PC, a civil litigation and general practice firm based at The Sage Mansion, announced that Kathleen Barclay of Ballston Lake joined the firm as senior associate attorney.

Prior to joining Maguire Cardona, Barclay gained extensive experience practicing law in Boston before moving to the Albany area with her family in 2009. She spent the past four years as a senior associate and litigator in a highly regarded Albany firm.
Barclay is admitted to practice in the state of New York and Massachusetts. She is an active member of the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association, Albany County Bar Association, Capital District Women’s Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.

Brad Sexauer and Robert Barnett were elected in February to the Saratoga Bridges board of directors.

Sexauer, of Saratoga Springs, is vice president for strategy and market development at Saratoga Hospital. He has over 25 years experience in health care management for both not-for-profit and for-profit businesses.
Prior to joining the hospital in 2005, he was vice president with Danville Regional Health System in Danville, Va., and corporate vice president/planning at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in suburban Chicago.
He has a master of business administration from the University of South Dakota, a master of health administration from Tulane University and a B.A. in zoology from DePauw University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development. Sexauer is currently a member of the board of directors of the local affiliate of the American Heart Association, a member of the Rotary Club of Saratoga Springs, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation, on the board of directors of The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County.
Barnett, of Ballston Lake, retired in 2009 after more than 30 years working in a variety of positions for the state Department of Health. He has expertise in public sector, executive-level, health care management and team leadership experience developing innovative solutions to improve health care quality, access and cost effectiveness.
He received numerous honors and awards including many commissioners’ recognitions, Special Achievement Certificates and Outstanding Appreciation during his tenure at DOH.
Barnett has a B.A. in Economics from St. Lawrence University, a M.S.I.A. in industrial administration and management from Union College, an M.A. in economics from The University at Albany, completed course work toward a Ph.D. in managerial economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He volunteers for the Adirondack Mountain Club Saratoga and Cold River chapters.

Saratoga Hospital recently welcomed seven new physicians in specialties including family practice, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and oral-maxillofacial surgery.

Christopher Buff, DO, family practice, received his medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. He completed an internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, and a residency at the former St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady. Buff, of Scotia-Glenville Family Medicine in Ballston Spa, is board certified in family practice.
Paul R. Dittes, MD, emergency medicine, received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri and completed an internship and residency at Albany Medical Center. Dittes is board certified in emergency medicine and in practice with Saratoga Emergency Physicians, which provides medical coverage at Saratoga Hospital’s Alfred Z. Solomon Emergency Center.
Audra Hanley, MD, family practice, received her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and completed an internship and residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital, also in Syracuse. Hanley, of Scotia-Glenville Family Medicine in Ballston Spa, is board certified in family practice.
Eileen E. Joyce, MD, obstetrics and gynecology, received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed both her internship and residency at Albany Medical Center. Joyce is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in practice at Glens Falls OB/GYN Center in Queensbury.
Bertrand Sorel, DMD, MD, oral-maxillofacial surgery, received his dental degree from the University of Montreal Faculty of Dentistry in Canada and his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. He completed both an internship and residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, also in Farmington, and a fellowship with Ponte Vedra Cosmetic Surgery in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Sorel is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is in practice with Northeast Surgical Specialists in Queensbury.
Julie Ann Stein, MD, emergency medicine, received her medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. She completed both a residency and internship at Albany Medical Center and an additional residency at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Stein is a member of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical Center.
Dympna Lynch Weil, MD, obstetrics and gynecology, received her medical degree from NYU School of Medicine in New York City and completed both an internship and residency at Stony Brook University Hospital. Weil is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is in practice at Myrtle Street OB/GYN in Saratoga Springs.
