Business Services Inc. as a technical account
manager. Also, Derek Guby was recently
promoted from sales engineer to technical

La Farr has over 20 years in marketing and
sales, recently finishing up a ten-year stint as
the quality assurance coordinator with the now defunct Colwell & Salmon Communications.
With Tech II, he is responsible for onboarding
new clients as well as managing existing ones.
Guby has five years of experience in information
technology and has been a part of Tech
II for close to 8 years. His responsibilities
include managing customer accounts, acting
as a liaison between customers, vendors and
engineers, and to build, implement and manage
IT related solutions.
Guby has received a bachelor’s in mathematics
and two-year MBA degree with a concentration
in IT management from SUNY Albany.

His focus is on business valuation, litigation support, economic damages analysis, and CFO advisory work as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Shelby Schneider, director of marketing
and economic development specialist at the
Saratoga Economic Development Corp. has
been selected as a winner in the economic
development profession’s “40 Under 40” awards,
the first-ever awards program recognizing
young talent in the economic development
profession.
A five-member selection committee chose
the winners from a pool of more than 150 candidates
based on their exceptional contributions
to the economic development industry. The
award’s program was managed by Development
Counsellors International (DCI), a New
York-based firm that specializes in economic
development marketing.
Schneider began her career with SEDC in
2000 where she implemented the ramp-up and
administration of Saratoga County’s Empire
Zone Program and administered the program
until its sunset in 2010. She has also been with
SEDC since the organization undertook the
development of the Luther Forest Technology
Campus in Malta, New York. She provided
marketing and communications support during
its many stages of development and was also
part of the team that worked to market the
campus to the global semiconductor industry.
