Butler Rowland Mays Architects of Ballston
Spa received the Renovation and Restoration
Building of the Year award from the New York
Library Association at the annual NYLA conference
held in Saratoga Springs in November.
The award honors the firm’s Saugerties Public
Library project which was completed in 2011. The project completely renovated and restored
the historic 1915 Carnegie Library and added
nearly 9,000 square feet of new floor space.
The now fully accessible building features
numerous sustainable design features including
geothermal heating and cooling, daylight
harvesting and many “green” building products
and furnishings. The total project cost approximately
$7 million and was dedicated in
January of 2011.
