Ah restaurant week, a joyous time when restaurants participate in a deal

which offers 3 courses for $20.12. Of course, the restaurant owners and

chefs choose their menu for this event and generally the restaurants

have a wonderful array of options for their patrons.

Tiznow did things a little differently. Rather than offering the deal

in addition to their overall menu, they dedicated the week strictly to

restaurant week. With this, the menu was much longer than most other

participating restaurants which gives the patrons more choices, and who

doesn’t like lots of choices?

I started my meal with the Tiznow

salad ($8 on regular menu) with spiced candied walnuts, bleu cheese and

balsamic vinaigrette. Sorry friends, I dug in before I could remember to

take a picture. Sure it may be a pretty common salad to find at

restaurants, but this salad totally takes the cake. From the seasoning

on the walnuts to the homemade balsamic vinaigrette, it’s by far the best I can

remember having. Yum.

Onto the main course – I went with the

sauteed salmon ($20 on regular menu), marinated with lemon and honey

garlic sauce, topped with candied pecans on top of a cauliflower puree.

Wow

was this good. The salmon had such a great flavor to it, the

cauliflower puree was sweet and light and the candied pecans added a

nice crunch to the texture of the dish. If I were to go back during

regular menu times, I’d absolutely get this again.

Finally, onto

dessert. Offered for this deal was the dessert of the day, which

happened to be strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream.

What a great way to finish off the meal! It was light and sweet, but not too sweet, leaving you happy and not overly stuffed.

All

in all, Tiznow pretty much hit it out of the park with this meal. I was

satisfied from beginning to end and if I could, I’d do it all over

again. Hooray for restaurant week, can’t wait for next year!
