Story of my life:

Yupp, yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Italian wine and food festival at spac. With two tents filled with hundreds of vendors, it was a wine/food lovers dream come true. I myself enjoyed the opportunity to taste dozens of wines from various regions while also tasting samples of food from some of Saratoga’s finest restaurants. Unfortunately my hands were pretty full most of the day, so I apologize for the lack of images in this blog, but there were some items I definitely want to highlight.

So I will say, there were some positives and some negatives. For instance, I had some dessert wine that was supposedly hundreds of years old and almost gagged upon tasting. Sorry! But then again, that’s my fault for trying it I suppose.

As for the food – I tried a lot, Maestro’s, Hatties, Chianti, Mama Mia’s, Cafe Cappricio, Gideon Putnam, Meat House, Irish Times, and much more. Cafe Cappricio had plates of what else but insalata caprese (tomato, mozzarella, and basil salad)! The tomatoes were nicely roasted, but I wasn’t blown away. Irish times had a potato and leek soup which was cold yet quite satisfying. Mama Mia’s had several pastas in a light tomato and garlic sauce while the owner was actually there making hand made mozzarella. Love love love fresh mozzarella!

Sooooo who had the best!?

Maestro’s wins this competition with duck confit bruschetta: grilled peasant bread, brie, caramelized onion, duck confit, topped with shredded green apple. One of the best parts of the day by far, (besides the insane amounts of sparkling wine I consumed). Nothing compared to this sample I had. Oh right, one last thing. I’d also like to point out the fact that Saratoga Olive Oil is delicious. I mean… you’ve gotta try this stuff, especially the herb roasted olive oil. I dipped a small piece of bread in a sample of it and couldn’t stop talking about it the rest of the day. Just saying.

Finally, I’ll finish this off by providing some pictures of some of the Ferraris that were displayed around spac. Hooray for the Italian wine and food festival 2011!!

Some day I’ll be cruising around in one of these. Some day…
