Hooray! Today I want to invite all of you to attend the Taste of Home Cooking School, a special one-night event on Monday, May 14 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.<br \/>\nAll you ambitious cooks, this is the event for you. Chef Michael Barna will be giving a live demonstration of 10 new recipes. Attendees will not only leave with new recipes but also a gift bag with an assortment of products and coupons, including TWO Taste of Home magazines. How cool is that?! Don&#8217;t forget, door prizes are always an option as well.<\/p>\n<p>General admission is $15 and can be purchased weekdays between 8AM and 5PM at The Saratogian in person or by calling 518.584.0205 or at The Record in Troy in person or by calling 518.270.1211. Tickets are also available at four area Price Choppers, including Route 50 (Ballston Ave), Railraod Place, Route 50 in Wilton and off Route 9 in Malta.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a limited number of VIP admissions at $60 a person, which includes a Taste of Home cookbook, exclusive admission to a pre-show reception and early admission to the Vendor Expo. These tickets can only be purchased through The Saratogian.<\/p>\n<p>The doors open at 5PM and the show begins at 7PM. For some, eating is eating and food is food, but to me, it\u2019s so much more. Every element of the food experience, I love. Perhaps the profound effects of growing up in an Italian family have rubbed off on me. If there was one thing I learned in the process, it was that food brings people together, and where there\u2019s food, there\u2019s family. No, I didn\u2019t grow up in The Olive Garden, but I did grow up privileged to have an incredible Grandmother, and the best cook I\u2019ve ever known. To this day no one will ever be able to replicate her Sunday \u201cgravy\u201d, even though all grandchildren have come close (and some closer than others [me]). It was she who inspired me to begin cooking in the first place, and it is in her honor that I continue on in hopes of inspiring others the same way.
