It’s that special time of the year when I crave corned beef pretty much all the time. I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the reuben sandwich. So put a big time Irish restaurant together with my corned beef cravings and love of reuben sandwiches and I think you know what’s next.
Dinner at Irish Times. I’m not going to lie, after the first weekend Irish Times was open, I swore I wouldn’t eat there again. But as time passed and I realized that I can’t hate on places for poor service and bad food during their opening weekend forever. I decided to buck up and give it another shot.
To start, we ordered the parmesan garlic chicken wings.
I must say, I was very pleased with this choice. While Tim disagreed and didn’t care for the coating, I thought it was great. The wings were crispy and the skin had a great deal of flavor but underneath was the most flavorful, hot and juicy chicken you could ask for. The chicken wings get a thumbs up from me.
Moving on to the main attraction. I’m assuming you already figured this out, but if you didn’t – I ordered the reuben.
All I wanted was the hot, greasy corned beef packed between some rye bread with sauerkraut and russian dressing. Well I got everything I wanted, except for the hot part. That’s right folks, it came out cold, which pretty much ruined everything. I was disappointed to say the least, and while the sandwich was decent on its own, I didn’t get that experience that I was hoping for.
Don’t count it out just yet though. I must say, Irish Times may be the coolest bar/restaurant in Saratoga. The atmosphere is incredible, and I love to go there for drinks and to hang out. I also know people who LOVE the food at this place, so maybe it was just that night, and the food was sitting out too long.
Let me know what you think – comment and tell me about your experiences there!
