Roma’s has been a favorite of mine since I was old enough to appreciate a good Italian mix sub. Once I stepped into that store for the first time, I never looked back. The aroma that quickly seeps into your nostrils is a tantalizing scent that you wish you could take with you and smell all the time. Now I’m going to be honest right from the beginning, I have yet to even try one of their specialty homemade dishes like lasagna or eggplant parm, simply because every time I go in there I CRAVE the Italian mix sub.
For those who aren’t aware, Roma’s is not a restaurant. It is an Italian
imports store that makes fresh sandwiches, subs, and specialty dishes
to go. I’ve been wanting to blog about Roma’s for a
while now. The satisfaction that grows on my face upon eating a sub from there
is a different type of satisfaction. I have attempted multiple times to
recreate this sub and it’s just not possible. I’m sure a lot of you may
think I’m crazy for ranting and raving about a sub, but trust me, it’s
not just your ordinary sub.
The
Italian mix consists of salami, capicola, ham, pepperoni, and tangy
provolone cheese. With the addition of finely chopped lettuce, onions
and tomatoes, this sub is almost complete. Add the traditional oil and
vinegar with herbs and a pickle on the side, and it’s ready to go. I’m
going crazy over here just thinking about it and not having one in front
of me to eat. I can’t put any more describing words out there, you’re
just going to have to go and try one for yourself.
Please let me know if you agree, disagree, or just feel like saying hi! I want to hear from you!
Agree! Believe it or not even though I grew up in this area, somehow I had my first Roma sub just two days ago. Turkey, prosciutto, and provolone…holy cow….good
My friend Mike Cudahy took me to the store YEARS AGO and everytime I’m in Toga its a STOP on my stay !! The BEST EVER a must for EVERYONE –WOW !!! Great Job
You forgot to mention how fantastic the roll is – so fresh and delicious! I also crave their subs – you’re not crazy!!
I agree with you 100% about Roma’s Italian mix sub. I live in Queensbury, but Roma’s is the only place locally where I order an Italian sub.
I also enjoy their pastries and cheeses, but I have not yet tried any of their home made speciality dishes.
It’s a great place to shop for Italian ingredients without having to drive to Albany. I love their fresh chestnuts during the holidays.
Thanks for commenting, Kate! I’m glad you agree. There are so few Italian import stores in the area and this one just surpasses the rest. I’m going to have to try their pastries too the next time I go in!
No question. Their stuff is absolutely the best and the sub leads the pack.
