Earlier last week I had tweeted about wanting some authentic Mexican
food, but since Saratoga is lucky enough to have a pretty big variety of
Mexican restaurants, I was struggling to figure out where to go!
Naturally, I decided to research online and after going to Leon’s
website, I didn’t need to look any further. The website alone made me
excited to go out and experience this restaurant for myself.
When you first walk in, there’s a large wrap around bar with some
high top tables, and in the room to the right is the full dining room.
It’s a good set up, with some tables outside for those who enjoy outdoor
dining in the summer time!
For starters, my tequila loving friend and I decided to go after the margarita pitcher, which was delicious and satisfying.

Sweet cactus margarita glasses, right?
The menu has a plethora of options, for those who really embrace
Mexican food, and those who are reluctant to try new things. Since I’m a
Food Network fanatic, and Rachael Ray has even featured Leon’s on an
episode of “$40 Dollars a day” in Saratoga, I picked her favorite, the
Burro Ranchero – a flour tortilla filled with chicken and rice, covered
in ranchero sauce and melted cheese, along with a dallop of sour cream.

So as you can see, you may not look at this and think it’s the most
appetizing looking picture, but when I took my first bite, I was in
Mexican heaven. Rachael Ray definitely knew what she was talking about
when she suggested this dish on her show. The chicken was moist and
juicy, like it had been slow roasted, and the rice had the perfect
texture. The cheese and ranchero sauce really topped it off, no pun
intended! (haaaa…ha.)
Here’s a look at my friends meal, the chicken chalupas:

When the waiter brought it over, you couldn’t even see the tortillas,
it looked more like a salad, but holy guacamole that guac was good.
Thanks to Alyssa for letting me try it, I would go back to Leon’s just
for the guacamole!
All in all, I was very pleased with my meal and margaritas!
Presentation was my only issue this time, but as I mentioned above, once
I took my first bite I couldn’t care less what my plate looked like!
Hi Ashley! I write the Saratoga Traveler blog on this website. I LOVE Leon’s. It’s my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I’d like to follow you on twitter and you can follow me on mine. What’s your twitter handle?
