SPAC's New Renovations
A New Look For The Saratoga Performing Arts Center
Saratoga Springs NY -- The Saratoga Performing Arts Center's outdoor amphitheater will be getting a new facade to keep up to date with its modern look. The current dark wood siding will be replaced by a new wave pattern made of green materials: sustainable forest products and recycled paper. This will be the third out of expected 4 phases of renovations to SPAC - made possible by a $7 million investment from New York State.
A new fiber optic system and clear panel railing will also be replacing the existing globe lights and railing. The new lights will not only darken the amphitheater at night, but also help to reduce the energy consumption of the venue.
Past phases of the rehabilitation included repairing of the roof, entrance and backstage renovations, as well as making the inside seats more comfortable.
Not only is the Saratoga Performing Arts Center getting renovated, the Saratoga Spa State Park will be undergoing a facelift. A list of some of the projects expected for the park include:
- Peerless Pool Renovations: Repair deteriorating paint and concrete
- Spa Little Theater Improvements
- Park's Picnic Area Renovations: Improvements for 6 Comfort Stations
- Roadway Repair: Resurface and repair the parking lots and roads
- Bike and Pedestrian Pathways Improvements
SPAC and park construction projects are planned to begin in October 2008 - with a completion date of May 2009.
