SOUL SESSION, the region’s high-energy, high-spirited ensemble, will perform multi-genre music every Friday in March beginning at 8 p.m. for the second annual Speakeasy Extravaganza at The Factory Eatery and Spirits, 20 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa. The Factory is an historic building downtown in Saratoga County’s city seat that has been transformed into an eatery and stage (www.thefactoryeatery.com).

Known for both sophistication and spontaneous exuberance and led by in-demand soulist Garland Nelson, Soul Session presents original music and evokes the passion and creativity of music artist legends including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, and Bill Withers.

Says Nelson: “Soul music is God's multi-cultural lifeline. Soul Session heightens our organic humanity by making the audience the center of attention through call and response, dance, and praise. Every show honors classical and emerging sounds.”

Unparalled in the region for its approach to music as education as well as pure entertainment, Soul Session presents the Friday night series as a “dress-to-impress, no-sneakers” scene, spotlighting other diverse musicians opening before its featured center-stage performance. Entertainers on-stage before Soul Session will include Keith Prey Soul Jazz Revival, Sensemaya Latin Dance Band, and Electric City Horns, and other guests, as well as a DJ between bands.

The Factory offers complimentary hors d’oeuvres, valet parking and photo magnets. Imperia Vodka, Bacardi Mojito, Don Eduardo Tequila and Jack Daniels will be available for sampling, as well as a drink-specials cash bar. Door prizes and giveaways make the evening “more surprising and more fun,” Nelson says. A coat check is available.
