Katrina Trask Nursery School
History of Katrina Trask
Katrina Trask Nursery School found its very first roots in 1929, when a preschool playgroup was organized by the Skidmore Department of Home Economics. During the 1940s it evolved into a full-day childcare program, and by 1968 it became a cooperative nursery school chartered by the State of New York Education Department.
Who We Are Today
Although we are no longer a cooperative school, KT offers a special opportunity where parents and teachers work together in nurturing the growth and development of children in the classroom.
At Katrina Trask we have built a sensory-rich program that allows a child to be fully immersed in his or her education. Themed units provide a solid curriculum that allow children to experience literature, mathematics, science, and the arts. The manipulatives and activities address academic, physical, and social development. Our program is designed to facilitate the learning of age appropriate academic and social skills needed to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
School Programs
Informally known as "KT," the school offers a Peek at Preschool program for 2 year olds and their parents, (Fridays 10:00-11:00) and beginning in September 2016 class will be held on (Tuesdays 10:00-11:00), 3 year-old program (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00) and a 4 year-old program (Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 to 12:00). All of the programs are headed by Lead Teacher, Patricia Wildermuth and Assistant Teacher, Suzanne Gowen (pictured below).
