Tapping Bonus: Releasing Pain in the Back
It seems
that conventional treatment for pain is failing to help many sufferers. According to the APPEAL (Advancing the Provision of Pain
Education And Learning) study done in Europe, doctors are not being trained
effectively to manage pain. Instead, they are relying on potent and addictive
pain medications which block pain signals. The problem is these pills can also cause dependency with negative side
effects. While the recommendations have been to form a comprehensive framework
for pain management and more training for physicians in Europe, little is being
done conventionally in the United States.
The good
news is that many studies are showing the benefits of holistic techniques for
relief of pain. These include chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture. My homepage blog this week highlighted resources for the validity of acupuncture,
which is now recognized to be beneficial conventionally for pain management.
There is another technique that I’ve found beneficial in my practice for addressing discomfort. It is also based on acupuncture meridians. The bonus is that
you can do it yourself at home. It is called the emotional freedom technique,
or EFT.
EFT has been
shown to calm the flight-and-fight response. By calming down the brain, the body stops producing inflammatory
stress hormones that rob nutrients and prevent healing. EFT gives the
body the ability to release feel good neurotransmitters for pain relief
and repair. The effect can have a profound effect when used in an integrative wellness program.
Tapping can also help one find emotional balance, insight, forgiveness, and
release.
Below is
Nick Ortner’s blog on releasing pain with EFT and a link to the video.
But could she release her pain? Could
she use EFT Tapping for it? Is it possible to release the pain,
frustration and anger?
Maggie was brave enough to join me on
stage a few weeks ago when I was speaking in Washington, D.C. at a Hay House
event. With just a few minutes of Tapping, she was able to release her physical
pain in a way she hadn’t done since that day.
