The holidays are a time of joy and togetherness, but they can also create chaos and overwhelm. Sometimes, the extra obligations, family triggers, and diet culture messages can steal our seasonal cheer and cause emotional and digestive distress.
This is why I started a series of tips to help you feel more ease during these precious times. In this way you can better enjoy the events, and the delicious treats it brings, without suffering the repercussions.
In my first video, I explored the link between our gut and stress. I also gave you a few simple tools to help ease the mind and belly. These included eating nourishing food, taking probiotics as necessary, and relaxation. Finally, I revealed the best essential oil to help to relieve holiday bloat and upset tummies, peppermint oil.
In my previous video, I dug further into addressing root cause issues of gut disturbances. I highlighted important basic and functional labs to consider for chronic digestive issues. Then, I summarized several naturopathic and functional medicine interventions to soothe irritated bellies. These included digestive enzymes and supportive nutrients, lifestyle practices, and foods. Most importantly, I reiterated why balance with food and avoiding diet culture is the healthiest option of all.
Now, in my latest video, I finish off this series by discussing some of my favorite digestive herbs, supplements, essential oils, and holistic techniques to calm a stressed-out gut and mind.
Topics include:
- Two ways herbs can interact with the gut microbiome and influence the gut-brain connection
- The various ways herbs support digestive and emotional health
- Some of my favorite essential oils for soothing irritated guts and minds
- Holistic ways to support the gut-stress axis
