With the cold months ahead, it’s vital to have a strong immune system. Thankfully, nature’s aromatics and her essential oils are great allies to keep us healthy and resilient in the face of infectious agents and emotional triggers.
Yet, one aspect is often overlooked for building a strong repair and defense system. This is importance of protecting ourselves from the chemicals and toxins found in our food, water, personal care products, and cleaning agents. These harmful substances are ubiquitous and have been linked to various diseases. Their negative effects can be what blocks many from achieving the vitality and healing responses they desire.
By removing the detrimental impact of these exposures, we can optimize our overall wellness and make our essential oils, supplements, and lifestyle interventions more effective. For these reasons, I have decided to highlight a resource for non-toxic living in my latest clinical tip. It provides information on how to clean up and green-up our lives.
Initially, swapping out our products for healthier choices can be overwhelming. Therefore, I find it best to take things a few baby steps at a time. This is why I’ve split up this topic into two (maybe three) parts.
In this first section, topics include:
- a background on our toxic environment and key points to keep in mind
- how to nourish our bodies with clean and nutrient dense foods to decrease our total chemical burden
- how to take action without being overwhelmed
In the next part of this series I will review safer consumer products and cleaning agents and how to purify our drinking water.
