I’ve been focusing obsessively on emotional and mental health for the past few years.
The current events have led to a mental health crisis, and many are struggling and suffering in silence. Whereas much attention is being drawn to physical health, brain health is just as important and even mediates our physiology. Combining naturopathic modalities with conventional treatment can optimize the mind-body and provide an integrative solution to the lack of access to effective solutions in psychiatry.
That being said, trauma can also enhance resiliency and growth as people find meaning in the messes of life. Coping skills, social support, various personality characteristics, and other factors all determine how one will experience the aftereffects of trauma.
In my latest article, I explore this concept more and explain the differences between resiliency, posttraumatic growth (PTG), and posttraumatic depreciation (PTD).
Topics covered include:
- Being mindful of mental health and why positive affirmations won’t cure mental illnesses
- The three responses to trauma- resiliency, PTG, and PTD
- What PTG is and the characteristics that enhance it
- The interaction between PTG and PTD
- How PTD may be more common in those who struggle with psychiatric imbalances
- How an emerging hope is happening in society and how this may fuel PTG
By the time you are done reading, you will be able to take some tips on what builds PTG to enhance your resiliency. It could also shed light on the fact that you may need to seek out the additional support you require to get out of suffering.
