The negative ramifications of stress are particularly upsetting today because there is no let up in the triggers and emotional upheavals. Beyond everyday stressors, there are work and school transitions, financial strain, polarization in politics, stigma and racial inequalities, and environmental outbursts. Even the most resilient are struggling to get through.
More symptomology may be popping up as the body and mind are trying to make sense of what is danger, what is not, and how to survive all these shifts in our world. If we can intervene at the level of perception, we can prevent a lot of the downstream, unwanted effects. For these reasons, we need to prioritize self-care and stress relief.
In my latest video, I review the pitfalls of too much stress on the brain and body and what to do about it. I discuss several of my favorite ways to downregulate nervous system overdrive, including essential oils, mindfulness, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and deep breathing.
