It’s not an easy time. We are re-adjusting and re-emerging to a very different world than we knew. This upheaval and temporary abnormal can be trying on the mind and body. Since the beginning of the crisis, many of my naturopathic and functional medicine clients have been reporting that they are feeling exceptionally lethargic and less motivated. This is to be expected.
Living in a world with uncertainty, major life disruptions, financial insecurity, and stigma requires large reserves for both cognitive and physical resiliency. These strains have only compounded coping with daily hassles, inequities, injustices, and prejudices. Even prior to the crisis, the stressors of everyday life left many people’s “fuel tanks” empty.
For these reasons, it is vital at this time to pay special attention to our emotional, mental, and physical health, and to reach out for support. Thankfully, we have holistic tools available to us to that support self-care and nurture the mind-body.
