A recent survey of over 2,000 adults found that “Americans are the unhappiest they’ve been in 50 years.” When compared to previous results, more individuals reported being lonely and more parents stated they did not have high hopes for their children’s futures.
Unfortunately, this is not surprising based on the recent statistics on the current state of mental health since the crisis. With over 45% of Americans feeling that their mental health is impacted and an increase in the use of anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications, it makes sense more people are struggling with getting through the day with cheer.
Thankfully, there is a bright side
Another survey indicated that more people are paying attention to their mental health and self-care . Many are also more aware that prejudice is still rampant, and there is a movement to address the disparities in our world that we have been complacently accepting. (source)
Right now, more than ever, America needs a call for happiness.

I know, they aren’t the sole solution to America’s unhappiness problem!
Still, they have been shown to help enhance emotional and physical resiliency. (link, link)
