Food and exercise are important for health and I still recommend tailored suggestions for my clients for body nourishment in proper context; however, they are only part of the picture of wellness. In this week’s article on my home page, I discussed how the obsession on diet, weight loss, and fitness are fueling global sickness. Furthermore, focusing on body size is contributing to stigmatization, which of itself is associated with the very negative health consequences medicine is blaming on “obesity.”
I invite you to open your mind and use the resources and references in this current post to decide for yourself if trying to achieve weight loss through dieting is worth the risks to your emotional and societal health. Even if you are able to maintain a “normal” weight, the restrictive practices may in the long-term not lead to the promise of happiness and social acceptance that is the true “craving.”
Please don’t let me or any health “expert” sway your own priorities on what you consider truly healthy for you.
