In last week’s article, I began my discussion of the latest herbal “darling” on the block, CBD (cannabidiol) oil. This “magic medical elixir” has been dominating mainstream media. It has captured the attention of physicians, millennials, baby boomers, “stoners,” and celebrities.
Many case reports and testimonials are being posted across the blogosphere praising CBD’s healing potential. Reports on its benefits range the gamut of “miracle cures.” Due to its popularity and profit potential, CBD can now be found in personal and skin care products, cookies, lattes, and just about anything that can be marketed! It has even been rumored to be the next ingredient to be added to Cocoa-Cola.
Many are heeding that there are potential dangers to such widespread availability of this cannabis compound! As Uncle Ben says, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
It makes one wonder:
- What is the history and background of this “magical elixir?”
- How did this extract become so popular?
- Is it the “real deal?”
- What are the potential pitfalls?
In this series, I’ll address all of these questions.
First, I’ll review the background of hemp, cannabis, and this popular constituent. Read more here.
