It is such a gentle, easy, beautiful start to the day. <\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (6).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028629.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/>Another beautiful way to start the day, or spend any hour of any given day in any season (in my opinion), is at the Yaddo Gardens. The calm serenity that surrounds you as you walk past the pools and fountains, the statues, and the beautiful rose gardens is almost a palpable thing.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (3).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028329.jpg\" width=\"293\" height=\"440\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Yaddo was founded in 1900 by Spencer and Katrina Trask, and is an artists&#8217; community offering residencies to writers, painters, composers, choreographers, etc. The history and beauty of the Trask mansion and approx. 40 acres needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. For more on the history, head to their website at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaddo.org\/about\/history\/\">http:\/\/yaddo.org\/yaddo\/history.shtml<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (4).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028429.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div>For the purpose of this blog post, however, I am just going to take you on a little photo tour of the beautiful and, dare I say, MAGICAL gardens. There is no denying that you feel something really special as you wander past the roses, through the pergola and in the wooded area behind the pergola.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (5).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028529.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (9).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028929.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div>As quoted from their website, &#8220;Some believe that the land itself at Yaddo is the source of mystical creative power. The property on which Yaddo now stands previously housed a farm, gristmill, and tavern operated by Jocobus Barhyte, a Revolutionary War veteran. The low angle of the sun&#8217;s rays creates the most beautiful shadows, and highlights the remaining dew on the delicate roses and other blooms. <\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (11).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo20281129.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (13).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo20281329.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (14).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo20281429.jpg\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (17).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo20281729.jpg\" width=\"293\" height=\"440\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div>The paths behind the pergola are equally magical&#8230;lush, green, and beautiful&#8230;with flowers, a pool, a fountain and, again, the early morning sunlight peeking through the trees at precisely the right angle produces rainbows when filtered through the fountain! I have only been there once at the exact right moment, but there were rainbows everywhere. I half expected to see fairies or sprites as part of the magic.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (1).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo2028129.jpg\" width=\"293\" height=\"440\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yaddo (20).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/frozen-moments\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2016\/07\/yaddo20282029.jpg\" width=\"293\" height=\"440\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/div>\n<div>It is truly a very calming, very beautiful place to be. Guided tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day, as well as Tuesdays during track season, for $10. Her children were also raised in Burnt Hills and enjoyed the same Saratoga pastimes. In January of 2014, Gail sold her home of 29 years, headed 22 miles north, and planted herself solidly in the the heart of Saratoga, the area she has loved for a lifetime. An avid photography enthusiast, she now finds herself surrounded by the beauty, history and magic that is Saratoga...all just begging to be photographed and shared. \"It's one thing to have spent my life enjoying Saratoga as a neighboring visitor, but it's a whole new ball game now that I'm actually in the heart of things,\" she explains. \"I am now only minutes away from Yaddo, the racetrack and downtown. The longer I am here, the more I am learning about the history and tourism of this amazing city.\" Join Gail as she sets out with her camera in hand and explores, photographs and shares her discoveries, both in Saratoga and in the surrounding areas.
