Wow! What a quick year this has been…but on Nov. 21, 2014, I published my very first blog post here on Saratoga.com (here’s the link to that first post: (https://www.saratoga.com/frozen-moments/2014/11/a-heartfelt-welcome/). In it, I outlined my hopes for the blog, what I intended to try to do, and how I was so excited to explore and learn more about Saratoga…and I explained my thoughts regarding the importance of photos and keeping your memories close to your heart.
It has been a fantastic 12 months, that’s all I can say…but in ways that I never expected. Prior to publishing this blog, I was a very amateur photography fanatic (still am a total amateur, for that matter) who loved to write. But now I had an audience. A little intimidating, but kind of cool.
Over this past year, I actually drove a RACE CAR. I kind of spun out a little bit and thought we were going to crash into a wall, but it was exhilarating and so much fun! And I got some really fun photos. I visited, for the first time, the Saratoga History Museum which blew me away and helped me develop a greater knowledge of our incredibly fascinating history. I had the privilege of meeting Sarah Craig at the Caffe Lena and attending the most awesome concert with the opportunity to take some great photos. I got to explore in great detail all of the beautiful rooms at Union Gables.
I’ve walked countless miles taking photos of the beautiful and unique buildings throughout the area, I’ve spent hours in Congress Park and the State Park, the track and Yaddo…and every point in between.
As I mentioned in my very first post, my move to Saratoga in January 2014 was as the result of some very major life changes that had been a long time coming…and I eagerly began what I considered to be my Chapter Two.
But the BIGGEST surprise as a result of this blog was all of the incredible people I have met and the friends I have made. Whether I met and spoke to someone as the result of a blog post or interview, or met informally over coffee, or even randomly met up at a Farmer’s Market and started a friendship, this blog has been the most rewarding experience for me and I am so grateful to all the people along the way.
A special shoutout and thanks to the person I keep referring to as my “Super Secret Saratoga Source” who has consistently come through with great ideas for me and has been a good friend and supporter of my efforts here. (And, if he actually reads my blog, he will know how grateful I am!!) 🙂
Here’s to another year or photos and adventures and new friends.
Have a beautiful and safe Thanksgiving with family and friends. We truly have so much to be grateful for.
