This past Saturday, July 25, was the 19th annual Silks and Satins 5K competition. The race, which began at the beautiful Fasig-Tipton and covered a fast, flat course around Saratoga Springs, is a yearly fundraiser for Special Olympics NY.
Special Olympics NY provides athletic training and competition to over 65,000 athletes, competing in 22 Olympic sports throughout the state. As quoted from their website, “Special Olympics uses sports as a catalyst to reveal the champion in all of us (as athletes, volunteers, coaches, spectators, fans, supporters, etc.)”
Over 1,000 runners competed in the Silks and Satins race, with the first place male finish by Aidan Tooker of Saratoga Springs (age 17) with a time of 15:09, and the first place female finish by Meagan Kellogg (age 19) of Queensbury who finished with a time of 17:13.
Below are a few of the many photos I took that morning as a race volunteer. I will share all of the photos in an album on my Frozen Moments FB page (https://www.facebook.com/frozen.moments.toga) so, if you don’t see who you are looking for here, please check out the FB album.
Congratulations to all the runners!
