An Easy Saturday Morning at the Oklahoma Track

Well, now that opening day is less than two weeks away, I really wanted to share these shots I took a couple of weeks ago at the Oklahoma Track. It is always such an easy, peaceful start to the day…

The Whitney Viewing Stand which opened in August 2013 is a beautiful structure, offering spectators a beautiful, unobstructed of the Oklahoma Training Track.

As I do most mornings when I am out the door by 6:00am, I made my stop at Dunkin’ Donuts and sat in the cool early morning sunshine, watching as the horses and their trainers made their way to the track.

While I do enjoy the peaceful solitude of these pre-season workouts at the training track, I am so excited for the breakfast crowds once the season begins! I am one of those people who enjoys the crowds and the tourists…in addition to all the beautiful thoroughbreds, of course.

Opening day for the Saratoga Race Track is July 24, 2015. Only 12 days until we hear, “And they’re OFF!!”

Having lived most of her life in the neighboring town of Burnt Hills, NY, Gail was privileged to have grown up on the outskirts of the Saratoga area...visiting the track, picnicking at the State Park with her parents and family, enjoying concerts and the ballet at SPAC, swimming, shopping, and enjoying the nightlife on a regular basis throughout the years. Her children were also raised in Burnt Hills and enjoyed the same Saratoga pastimes. In January of 2014, Gail sold her home of 29 years, headed 22 miles north, and planted herself solidly in the the heart of Saratoga, the area she has loved for a lifetime. An avid photography enthusiast, she now finds herself surrounded by the beauty, history and magic that is Saratoga...all just begging to be photographed and shared.

"It's one thing to have spent my life enjoying Saratoga as a neighboring visitor, but it's a whole new ball game now that I'm actually in the heart of things," she explains. "I am now only minutes away from Yaddo, the racetrack and downtown. The longer I am here, the more I am learning about the history and tourism of this amazing city." Join Gail as she sets out with her camera in hand and explores, photographs and shares her discoveries, both in Saratoga and in the surrounding areas. See the beauty through her eyes and through her lens, and read as she chronicles her discoveries, and shares her thoughts and impressions. As she sees it, "There's so much beauty here and it's always an adventure!"
