About this event
Surround seats the audience onstage with the artist – where each note and whisper is shared in a collective resonance
Cassandra Jenkins is a songwriter and musician known for her immersive style, blending indie rock, jazz, and ambient textures to capture both the mystery and intimacy of everyday life. Her third album, My Light, My Destroyer, brings together poetic lyricism with field recordings and found sounds, weaving humor, vulnerability, and profound introspection into each track. Inspired by moments as ordinary as subway rides and as vast as the night sky, Jenkins invites listeners into her world, exploring the quarks and phenomena that shape her universe with a rare curiosity.
With collaborators like producer Andrew Lappin, Meg Duffy, and El Kempner, Jenkins channels a communal spirit into her songwriting, creating a tactile experience filled with ambient sounds that make her music feel both grounded and otherworldly. Influenced by artists like David Bowie and Annie Lennox, Jenkins deftly explores dualities—light and darkness, connection and isolation—crafting songs that celebrate the wonder of our shared human experience while gazing into the unknown.
