About this event

Join the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation on Giving Tuesday, December 3, for “Chestwood: 150 Years of History & Preservation,” celebrating the 150th anniversary of the storied Second Empire residence located at 432 Grand Avenue. This special virtual program will feature an introduction by local historian Carol Godette, followed by a presentation from the current homeowners, Kristi Krulcik and Marco Anichini. Kristi and Marco will share fascinating stories about the past residents, the Slade and Snyder families; information about the architect – Gilbert Bostwick Croff; highlight architectural features and discuss their passion for preservation.

As only the third owners in 150 years, Kristi and Marco continue to marvel at the significance of the prior owners’ contributions to the Saratoga Springs community, the arts, preservation, and horse racing. “By sharing our efforts to preserve this unique house and its history, we hope to inspire others to start exploring their origins and to appreciate the storied places where they live,” said Kristi Krulcik, a Saratoga native. The young couple who are involved in the tech industry, started documenting their research and preservation progress on Instagram, @ChestwoodSaratoga, which now has 15,000 followers from around the world.

Giving Tuesday, the Global Day of Philanthropy following Thanksgiving, encourages individuals to connect, support, and invest in their communities. “We are excited to share Kristi and Marco’s journey preserving Chestwood as part of Giving Tuesday. I hope people will be inspired by their story and contribute to support our mission,” said Executive Director Samantha Bosshart.
