They are often called man’s best friend, but are dogs replacing children in American households? An analysis of the 2010 U.S. census recently revealed that there are now more households with dogs (43 million) than children, so it’s about time that an animal abuse registry is put forth. We have child abuse registry’s for our human children, why not for our canine kids.
Albany county is looking to be the 2nd county in the state to establish a law where “anyone convicted of animal cruelty in Albany County would need to register giving their name, current address, photograph and pay an annual fee to the Sheriff’s Department.”
“One conviction would put the abuser on the registry for ten years; two convictions would put the abuser on the registry for life.
