A signal that summer has started in Saratoga is the return of the NYC BALLET to SPAC. The ballerinas can be spotted all over town..at the pools, shops and restaurants. I was fortunate to meet the FAMOUS Darci Kistler, her daughter and their charming pack of 4 lovely dogs. For those of you who do not follow ballet, Darci, the last of the Balanchine’s ballerinas, just retired from the NYC Ballet in June after dancing for 30 years. Now back to the dogs!! She brought them all into town to enjoy a day of TREATS and shopping. Because of the Dog Friendly Downtown program she was able to shop at over 30 stores in town with her furry friends in tow.
You don’t have to be a ballerina to shop with your dogs too!! I hope you come downtown and take advantage of the Saratoga Springs Dog-Friendly Downtown (DFD) Program. This program, spearheaded by Sloppy Kisses and Saratoga Arts, provides an opportunity for Saratoga Springs businesses to identify and market themselves as dog-friendly, hopefully reaching new customers and increasing sales. For locals and Spa City visitors, DFD offers an easy and accessible way to find businesses that cater to them and their dogs. Dog owners can identify dog-friendly businesses via a window decal and by checking www.dogfriendlydowntown.blogspot.com. You can really spend the whole afternoon “dancing” your way downtown…enjoying all that Saratoga Springs has to offer with your dog by your side.
