\nSTILLWATER – On Memorial Day (Monday, May 29th), Saratoga National Historical Park, located on Route 4 and 32 in Stillwater, will offer special living history programming and readings which honor Americans who fought and died in the 1777 Revolutionary War Battles of Saratoga. The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm and is free.<\/p>\n
\u201cNearly 500 Americans were killed or wounded in the Battles of Saratoga,\u201d said Park Ranger Eric Schnitzer. \u201cWhile some were from New York State, most of the fallen were from New England, and most are still buried on the battlefield in unmarked graves.\u201d This year\u2019s event will focus on the sacrifices made by Connecticut militiamen who lost their lives at Saratoga in 1777.<\/p>\n
Living history activities which showcase aspects of militia soldier life at Saratoga in 1777. At 11 am and 3 pm, park staff and volunteers from the public will be invited to read the names of Connecticut men who died in the Battles of Saratoga, battles which marked the \u201cmost important battle fought in the world during the last 1,000 years.\u201d At 1 pm, the sorrowful story of the widow of one of Connecticut\u2019s fallen soldiers will be discussed.<\/p>\n
