SARATOGA SPRINGS – With Easter Sunday just two weeks away on April 21, it’s time to go shopping for some of the seasonal goodness that spring brings. Savory Pantry (486 Broadway) has put together another great array of holiday baskets and other goodies that are sure to delight. We went shopping for a few, and here are some of our favorites. As always, note that you can call 518.450.1130 and customize your treat baskets, but you can’t go wrong with any of these hand-selected recommendations:
And They Call It Bunny Love
Anyone will love this charming Natural Hyacinth basket nested with spring-time treats! Lemon tea cookies, all-natural jelly beans, a generous bag of festively wrapped milk chocolate foil eggs and a 5 oz. chocolate bunny are the stars of this show.
Bunnies and Beans Gift Tote
You know how those bunnies are! In short order, there’s a whole slew of them! And for a family gathering, you can’t go wrong by bringing this natural Juttee tote along. It’s chock full with 5 dark and 5 milk miniature chocolate bunnies, a large 5 oz. semi-solid bigger bunny, and lots of “green beans,” which are your favorite jelly beans loaded with fruit juice concentrates and colored with natural fruit and vegetable extracts. Not quite health food, but certainly guilt-freer!
Of course, since its Easter, we’re talking dessert before the entree. However…
Don’t Forget to Ham it Up!
I tried this beauty at one of Savory Pantry’s tasting events (watch this space for the next ones) and was hooked. Shipped frozen, order this Arkansas Peppered Ham from Petit Jean Meats by April 15, and it will arrive on time for your Easter table. Fully cooked, all you do is heat and serve.
Available bone-in or boneless, these hams are hand-prepared (with a combo of Brown Sugar and cracked Black Pepper) and slowly smoked with burning hickory chips. Heat for 10 minutes per pound at 325 degrees, and you’re eatin’! And graciously accepting compliments, I assure you!
Wrap, Rinse, Repeat
Here’s a great Easter gift idea to dress up your leftovers and Say goodbye to those pesky plastic baggies. These all-natural food wraps are made of beeswax, organic cotton, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. You just use the warmth of your hands to soften the wrap and create a seal. When cool, the wrap will hold its shape around your food.
Best of all, they are re-usable! Just wash in cool water with a mild dish soap. Let air dry, and they’re good to go again!
Grow Your Own!
Welcome spring with these artistic seed packs from Hudson Valley Seed Company. Choose from a variety of veggies, flowers and herbs to literally brighten the landscape!
These are just a few of my Easter faves, but we are hardly scratching the surface. Visit Savory Pantry ONLINE, or pop in for a visit and see hundreds more.
Happy spring!
