SARATOGA SPRINGS – Beginning March 15, The Local Actors Guild of Saratoga will present the world debut of P-Town, a play written by one of the company’s members – Actor/Director JJ Buechner.
Synopsis:
The B+P Bed and Breakfast, owned by sisters Bea and Pearl Little, sits in the heart of Provincetown, MA. The sisters run their namesake B+B like a household more than a business, curating a group of devoted regulars into a chosen family over the course of nearly 20 summers in this colorful cape town.
Bea and Pearl are a veritable yin and yang: Bea’s artistic, smart-mouthed free spirit offsets Pearl’s more grounded (but still sassy) approach to life. Together they bring balance to the lives of their guests, guiding them through devastating loss, sexual confusion, new love — and P-town’s infamous T-dances.
But as a looming chaos threatens the town’s close-knit gay community, Bea and Pearl struggle to help others cope. With each passing year, vacancies climb, and a growing loss of life becomes impossible to ignore.
The sisters must keep this crisis from breaking their family – and their spirits. Bea creatively drums up new business with her after-hours antics, while Pearl secretly makes casserole dish after casserole dish of food for the mounting number of locals falling ill.
Year after year, the sisters find strength in their beloved repeat patrons, who hang their hats, release their frustrations, steal forbidden kisses, and even officiate one of the town’s first gay weddings in the B+P’s cozy living room.
At the B+P, all who enter learn acceptance, unconditional love, and how to find joy, no matter what challenges darken the door of their beloved second home.
P-town is dedicated to the memory of Thomas Dalton Bambury.
