SPAC’s Junior Committee to Host “Into the Pines” Winter Ball on Saturday, March 9 at 7 pm
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Take it from me and “Little Red” here… you don’t want to be left out in the cold, for tickets to this event always sell out and are going fast!
The Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Junior Committee invites guests to venture “Into the Pines” as the Hall of Springs is transformed into an enchanted, wooded wonderland, inspired by the sweeping Saratoga Spa Park for its 9th Annual Winter Ball. The event, slated for Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m., is a fundraiser to support SPAC’s educational programming, which last year reached more than 38,000 individuals. Tickets are $125 and are available to the public at spac.org.
One of the most highly anticipated, sell-out events in the Capital Region, the Winter Ball will feature live musical entertainment from Grand Central Station, whimsical surroundings and décor with floral arrangements provided by Samantha Nass Floral Design, and immersive experiences including: pop-up performances by Reality Dance Studio, roaming couture makeup stylists, entertainment by card magician Jason Ladanye, tarot card readings by Mary Shimp, and an interactive photo booth by Bigler Studio.
A feast for the senses, attendees can also enjoy cocktails at the open bar, delectable fare catered by Mazzone Hospitality, late-night nibbles sponsored by Walt + Whitman Brewing, and treats by Austin Bayliss Cakes. Back by popular demand will also be a raffle featuring luxury goods and unique experiences; all funds raised will directly support SPAC’s education and outreach programs.
Grand Raffle:
First Prize: Lake Placid Weekend Getaway
• 2 nights stay with breakfast at the Mirror Lake Inn
• 2 Lake Placid Olympic Site Passports
• $50 to the Lake Placid Pub + Brewery
Second Prize: Saratoga Springs Staycation

Third Prize: Lily and David Diamond Necklace
“Into the Pines – inspired by our place in the park, the perfect confluence of natural and man-made beauty – will fuse pop-up performances and a festive party atmosphere for the most immersive Winter Ball yet,” said Elizabeth Sobol, president and CEO of SPAC. “We are so grateful for the Junior Committee’s incredible efforts on this event – an event which raises critical funds for our growing education programs. In 2019, we will continue increasing our outreach in schools, the community, and our impact on the SPAC grounds. Events like the Winter Ball help make these ambitious goals possible.”
“It’s very exciting to see how much the Winter Ball has grown over the past nine years. This March, we invite the community to join us in ‘the pines’ for this sell-out event – complete with music by Grand Central Station, creative bites and cocktails, interactive performances presented by Reality Dance Studio, and a few other surprises,” said Samantha Kercull, president of the Junior Committee. “Thank you to our wonderful sponsors who make this winter celebration of the performing arts possible.”
Founded in 2010, the SPAC Junior Committee consists of culturally minded young professionals who support and promote world-class performing arts in the community. Hosted by the SPAC Junior Committee, the Winter Ball raises funds for educational programming at SPAC.
Editor’s Note: That’s the official verbiage, but from my perspective Samantha, along with event team leaders Amanda Ettinger and Caitlin Goetz, have once again put together a group that is both collegial and decentralized, so that everyone feels empowered and that they are making a valuable contribution. Both Caitlin (“Party of the Century”) and Amanda (“Morocco”) have had leadership roles at previous Winter Balls; so I can assure you that they and their team will have every detail in place, and leave “no pine cone unturned,” so to speak.
Plus they all work their butts off! Want proof? How many people do you know that would endure a freezing cold Chowderfest out in the open, just to sell tickets and raffles to you? And with a smile to boot!
All of them are worthy of your support, and recognition. So…
A CYBER SHOUT-OUT TO THE 2019 SPAC JUNIOR COMMITTEE!
