A New Approach to Fitness at 120 West Avenue
SARATOGA SPRINGS – For many, the idea of working out is a staple of their daily lives. Yet for some, putting yourself out there in the midst of a big group of people, particularly if you are beginning a new regimen, perhaps that New Years resolution, can certainly be a daunting experience.
Now there is an alternative. A concept that has taken hold in NYC and other Metro areas. A fully equipped gym with all the facilities, equipment and amenities that you expect in a large training facility is available to you to rent at Saratoga Strong (120 West Avenue) in which you can “manage your fitness on your own terms,” according to their WEBSITE.
We received a tour from Owner Angela Amedio, who proudly showed off the equipment, including free weights, cardio machines and floor space for activities like yoga, as well as amenities like lockers and showers, that is available both to personal trainers to bring in clients, particularly those individuals who prefer a private gym setting. The West Avenue Building where Saratoga Strong is housed has a comfortable coffee shop just one floor above, and a good number of free parking spaces. “We make it very affordable for personal trainers or people who might not have ready access to a gym,” Angela noted. “Having built my own client base, my focus is to try to help trainers get a start on building their own by making this available – without gouging them.” She added.
Another benefit is that there are no membership fees, contracts, or minimum obligations. Access to the facility is available to fit trainers/clients schedules; and for specific details or to book Saratoga Strong, you can contact Angela at saratoganystrong@gmail.com or 518.867.9783.

Nicole Rifenbary is a Certified Personal Trainer who has worked with clients at Saratoga Strong for quite some time now. We visited as she gave her clients Ed and Mary; and later Dave, the individual instruction that would help to reach their goals. “You would never find me at a big gym,” Mary noted. “It gets intimidating in front of a bunch of people!” This was just her third class, and she felt quite at ease in this small group setting as she went about her fitness training.
For Ed, he made it clear that this “…is something I HAVE to do!” Meaning, to keep himself physically fit in the face of having Type 1 Diabetes, as well as just having his left shoulder replaced last February 1. “I’ve been working with Nicole for about a year now.” He noted. “I think so much of her training, this facility, as well as her flexibility about my schedule, that I make the trip in from Broadalbin twice a week for this.”
Dave Harmon has just resumed his training regimen with Nicole, having been introduced to her at the West Side Sports Bar and Grill, which he owns. “Nicole is absolutely terrific!” He said, robustly. “She knows her stuff, and I feel I’m in excellent hands with her.”
So whether you attend a private workout session with a trainer like Nicole, or work by yourself, Saratoga Strong has the winning formula to “Manage your fitness on your terms.” Best of luck in achieving YOUR goals!
