The Saratoga Springs History Museum’s Holiday Gala – Friday, December 7
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Before entering the Casino, I pause. As I always do…
,,, and take photos like these. The Spirit of Life, on this night a long angle, semi-imprisoned by wintry branches. Sometimes, they are taken under more hospitable outdoor evenings…
But always, the photo is taken. Partially as a signpost; but more importantly serving majestically as my exemplar of the grip history has on me,
And, on many of the people in the town I live in.
A fact for which, I will always be grateful.
Inside, the warmth of the Canfield Casino awaits. The Saratoga Springs History Museum is housed here. And their Holiday Gala benefits the Museum’s ongoing educational projects, materials and events. The History Museum proudly states that it “…is one of the first stops in the City for schoolchildren, local families and tourists wanting to know more about our rich, unique history.”
Having begun as a pot luck / bring a plate to share affair in the early 1980s, this gala has grown to such an extent, that it is no stretch to opine that many of the adult attendees tonight had that first brush with the Museum as a schoolchild. It was there that they learned about the magical power of history, and acquired the strong desire to support it.
Thanks to their patronage tonight, and throughout the year, future generations not yet born, will be in a position to appreciate things as they were, long before you were born.
I think that says it best, so I leave it here. Enjoy the gallery.
