SARATOGA SPRINGS – Home Made Theater, Saratoga’s resident theater company at the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State Park opens their 34th season with Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. The show runs weekends October 13th through the 28th.
From the creators of the Broadway sensation The Producers, Young Frankenstein, with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, and music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, is an adaptation of the legendarily funny film of the same name. Follow Frederick Frankenstein as he tries to fill the mad scientist shoes of his infamous grandfather, Victor. This musical comedy sews together the wit and humor of the screen sensation with the flair of live theater.
The Director of Young Frankenstein is Dawn Oesch, who directed last Spring’s very popular Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has also directed Shrek the Musical and The Drowsy Chaperone at HMT. The artistic team includes Musical Director Richard Cherry, Choreographer Arlette St. Romain, Scenic Designer Mary Fran Hughes, Lighting Designer Stephanie Van Sandt, Costume Designer Sherry Recinella, Sound Designers Tom Moeller and Barry Streifert, and Properties Designer Christina Toppin.
The cast of Young Frankenstein includes Adrian J. Appleman as the Monster, Mike Bellotti as Frederick Frankenstein, Michael Durington as the Hermit, Brittany Leigh Glenn as Elizabeth Benning, Melissa Mason Lacijan as Frau Blücher, Kevin O’Toole as Igor, Eric Rudy as Inspector Hans Kemp and Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, and Kelly Sienkiewicz as Inga. The cast is rounded out by an ensemble of an additional 13 performers.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, October 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. Matinees are on Sundays at 2 pm, October 14, 21 and 28. An optional dinner package is available at Longfellows Restaurant prior to evening performances and following matinees for an additional $24 per person plus tax and gratuity.
