An Evening In Spain To Help At Home
SARATOGA SPRINGS – On Saturday, May 19, The Saratoga Golf and Polo Club hosted an evening inspired by Spain at Saratoga Golf and Polo Club to raise funds for The Wesley Community – an organization that serves more than 700 Saratoga area seniors and those with long-term disabilities.
According to Gala Committee Member Eliza Blanco, the funds raised on this evening were earmarked for The Wesley Community’s Resident Activities Room renovation project.
“This room serves as a major social hub for the community’s 342 long-term care residents that call Wesley Health Care Center home.” She noted. Improvements are scheduled to begin in 2019.
“Added amenities that can be expected with this renovation include increased capacity for event attendance and more space for Activities Staff to work and plan new events for residents,” she continued. New activities will include cooking classes with a renovated kitchen area and a large space for events such as their Annual Flower Show and Wesley Fall Family Fun Day.
“The Resident Activities Room was originally built in the early 1970’s so the updates will be a welcomed addition.” Eliza concluded.
Honorary Co-Chair Mary Gavin spoke of her Mother’s experience at The Wesley Community, as motivating force to lend support, along with Co-Chair Jim LaVigne, to provide a continuum of care of services for local seniors and their families, well into the future.
The night included delicious food from Chef John Ireland at Saratoga Golf and Polo Club, décor from Fine Affairs, music from The Accents, a photo booth by Niki Rossi Photography. It also had the cache’ of a unique setting, and a swanky ambiance that was both well-thought out, and tastefully executed.
It was, in short – a Saturday night Gala – in every sense of the term.
Nice job, everybody. ¡Viva Wesley!
