Dake Foundation For Children Revs Up for ‘Rock N’ Ride’ at Hall of Springs
Honored Guests Jeanne, Kateri and Haley
SARATOGA SPRINGS – A virtual convention of rock fans, air-guitar and shower-vocal legends truly found their respective muses – in abundance – on Thursday evening, May 10, as the Dake Foundation for Children hosted “Child’s Play 9: Rock N’ Ride.” Simply put, it was masterful.
This event earned high marks for unique fun and attention to theme details. Iconic rock props abounded, including oversized Fender mics on each table (for the inner JT or Joan Jett in all of us;) album cover wall hangings; and sparing no expense to fly in Live auctioneers Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar from Aurora, Illinois (“Excellent!”) – who gave rock n’ roll dreamers a chance to make their dreams a reality by procuring one of several VIP LiveNation at SPAC summer concert packages.
While that was the stuff of fantasy, it went even further – the band (Mike Perkins and the Band FreePlay) served up choice rock anthems – one after another. They played, and played well, several songs that I haven’t heard other good bands even attempt. They had me at Bowie’s “Young Americans” frankly. Great job, Guys!
And everybody got a tee shirt on the way out – Dude!
The only thing I might change is to pass out some Bic lighters, because the attendees clearly wanted “MORE!”
Whether dressed as if they were going to a concert, or perform on stage – all were clearly having a great time supporting an important cause. Be a rock star, and read a previous post HERE about tonight’s guest of honor, and visit the Dake Foundation for Children’s WEBSITE.
Now you’re ready for your extreme close-up. Party on!
