2nd Annual Franklin Community Center Benefit Poker Tournament – Saturday, April 7
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Attention all you Poker Stars out there – of every skill level… It’s time to ante up – for a great cause – as the Second Annual Franklin Community Center (FCC) Benefit Poker Tournament is returning to the Dart Room at the Parting Glass Pub (40-42 Lake Avenue) on Saturday afternoon, April 7.
“Last year was a success, with 152 players at the tables,” noted FCC’s Associate and Development Director Jaime Williams. “We raised over $4,500 for our food Pantry.” This year, the proceeds will be spread amongst many programs in FCC’s General Fund.
A couple of new things this year are notable. First, you needn’t worry about swimming with experienced poker “sharks,” but rather take a seat at a ‘newbie’ table, where you can pit your “beginner’s luck” against players of similar experience. But for those going for the big prizes, the tournament this year will have a whopping $10,000 check if you happen to get a Royal Flush at the Final Table! Plus, there is an additional $1,000 Cash Prize Pool for all those that make it to the Final Table.
Other notable elements include:
– A prelim game where you can bring your winnings to the main event;
– A Dart Challenge (When in Rome…)
– A Chip Raffle – which will be drawn after the first break
Here is the day’s event schedule:
11 am: Venue opens (food & bev service)
Noon: Registration + Sign-In Begins: (for Prelim Game + the Main Event + Rookies Tourney)
1 pm: Prelim Game (optional) 45 minutes; earn bonus chips for Main Event
2 pm: Rookies Tournament (begins)
2:15 pm: The Main Event (begins)
3:30 pm: Consolation Game (approx time)
5 pm: The Final Table (approx)
The way you play is via a schedule of suggested donations, note well that All – 100 percent – of Entry Donations go directly to FCC. There is no “takeout”, “rake” or “house cut”. Further, the prize pool and the insurance policy for the final table Royal Flush insurance policy have been paid in advance by generous supporters of FCC.
SUGGESTED ENTRY DONATIONS:
* Main Event or Rookies Tourney: $25/Adv – $35/Door
* Consolation Game: $1 (paid on-site)
* Prelim Game (Bonus Chips for Main Event): $5 (paid on-site)
* $10K Royal Flush Chance (included w/ Main Event Donation)
