SARATOGA SPRINGS – To introduce the newest trend in cocktail mixology “Shrubbing” that is sweeping through restaurants and bars in Los Angeles, Seattle, Miami, Washington D.C., New York City, and Saratoga Springs, The Savory Pantry will host a private, invitational event Sunday, October 29th from 3 to 6pm. Don Morton, the owner and creator of Shrub District, will be on hand to demonstrate how to add Shrub District to your favorite cocktails.
The good news is that I’m inviting all of you, but you must RSVP ( see details below)….
Shrub District is a 100% natural fruit, herb and spice vinegar preserve that comes in several flavors such as Lime, Pineapple Allspice, Cranberry Juniper, Strawberry Dill, Grapefruit, etc. and can be used to create any cocktail you can imagine and with any alcohol. Perfect for brandy, gin, vodka, bourbon and others. The art of using vinegar to preserve excess fruit during the fall harvest dates back over 1,000 years. It was developed in the Middle East and then, years later, practiced in Colonial America. Now, it returns in the form of “Shrubbing” – the newest trend in cocktail mixology.
In The Savory Pantry, every taste tells a story. When you hear the satisfying pop of a cork, thwack of a jar, or crackle of paper as you open any of our products, you’ll know that years of dedication and knowledge are distilled into the bites or sips you are about to enjoy. Maker’s narratives shine through in the taste of every product in our pantry. If you are curious, we want you to know not only where your product comes from, but who makes it and what motivates them to do so. The Savory Pantry is dedicated to quality and believes that when you demand it, you support small farmers, beekeepers, butchers, bakers, and other food artisans whose life’s work is perfecting their passions. The Pantry shelves are lined with products whose makers dedicate their lives to being the best at their crafts, and we embrace both the time-honored traditions and ingenuity that elevate and enrich their foods. When you rely on the best ingredients, good taste is simple.
Founder and CEO Keeley Ardman DeSalvo’s passion for quality ingredients began at her family’s restaurant, The Pancake Shop in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Since the first location in Hot Springs opened in 1998, The Savory Pantry has developed a loyal, nationwide clientele. In 2012, Keeley began considering a second location, and in 2014 The Savory Pantry opened on Broadway in historic Downtown Saratoga Springs, New York. Keeley notes, “The similarities between Saratoga and Hot Springs are many: a historic race course with some of the finest thoroughbred racing in the country, a vibrant arts scene, natural mineral springs, the mountains and lakes, and a sophisticated, small town feel. Add to that the proximity to New York City, Boston and Montreal, and it seemed an ideal choice.
